The Eva pilots have the title of "The nth Children", where n relates to the order of their discovery in ascending order. Although grammatically incorrect when used in the singular, it is stated to be intentional and correct by Gainax. ADV Films' dubbings of the series and Manga Entertainment's dubbing of the movies, however, translates this as "The nth Child" for lingually aesthetic reasons. The former of the two variants will be used, here.
（訳）エヴァのパイロットは「The nth Children」という冠語を持っており、nには発見された順に昇順で数字が入る。これは文法的には単数形が使われるところで誤りであるが、ガイナックスから、意図的にそうしてありこれで正しいという声明が出ている。しかし、ADVフィルムのアニメ版吹き替え及びマンガエンターテイメントの劇場版吹き替えでは、文法的美しさの理由から単数形で訳されている。本稿では前者の異形を採用する。（訳責：Michael）
英語版では単数形に直されているということですね。やはり英語圏の人間には耐え難いのでしょうね。日本人がハリウッド映画の日本人の名前で「ヘギサラ」とかいうのがいたら、やっぱりやるせないですからね。
